About EditBox/TextView in Android

As I understand, there are two input boxes in Cocos2dx, Editbox and TextView.

EditBox shows a box in the layer, and when the user clicks on it, a separate layer of black background will appear with an input box. (is this the same behavior in iOS?) The new input box will always appear on the top.

TextView is essentially a label, and when the user clicks on it, it will show a keyboard and allow user to input things. However it does not have cursor support and only supports single line.

Now, I would like to have an editbox that combines these two: I want to allow the user to edit in-place without that additional layer, while allow cursor support and multi-line dialogue (like, a chatroom). Is there a good input box that do this?

Thanks.

What version you are using. In previous version the EditBox behavior is different in Android and iOS. Try with cocos2d-x 3.8.1, here Editbox is fully reimplemented and now Editbox is showing on same position where you place the EditBox. New EditBox is same behavior as in previous iOS with more feature like Multiline support, when keyboard showing if needed then view will move upward.

In latest version cursor is showing in TextView but It come with cocos2d-x 3.9. For now you have to merge the patch https://github.com/cocos2d/cocos2d-x/pull/13903.

Thanks
