Fadein/Fadeout or setting opacity does not work well

I have this case where I am not able to get desired output.

I am having following layers
-> Cocos2dxVideoView (z-order n lets say 0)
-> Layer1 (z-order n+1 lets say 1)
-> Layer1 has two Sprites, lets say sprite1 and sprite2
-> Sprite2 is has greater z-order than Sprite1

To brief up my layers/sprites are z-ordered as following-> left being a lower z-order
Cocos2dxVideoView -> Layer1 -> sprite1 -> sprite2

There is video playing in Cocos2dxVideoView. Now because my Layer1 is of greater z-order, it covers the video,and video is invisible.
What I am doing is running an forever animation of sequence FadeIn and FadeOut on sprite2. Ideally when sprite2 opacity decreases, sprite1 video should be visible behind it.
But what is happening is sprite2 image also becomes semi transparent (opacity reduced) and I can see the video playing, which should not be the case. I want my video to be hidden.
When I stop playing the video, or remove the video layer, it works ok!! but I want the video to be played in background, as I am removing the sprites on some video playback position, to get the continuity.
Is this behavior as expected. Am I missing something to get this work?
I am using cocos2dx 3.5
