Hello.
I’m trying to run the programmers-guide-samples to learn how cocos2d-x works.
When I try to run it (using GNU/Linux), I get:
>There isn’t any available platforms.
How can I run the samples for the desktop? Thank you.
Hello.

I am the author of this and I haven’t tested these samples on Linux, honestly.
I don’t have time to make this work today. Please create an issue for me so I can get it on my plate.
Hi @slackmoehrle
I think it’s a general problem because I get the same message when I try to do
cocos run -p android
Do you have any idea? I would not like to create an issue if it’s a simple problem caused by my lack of experience.
Thank you.
I honestly can’t tell you without looking. Can you post the whole output of what you are doing and by chance I might be able to see something.
Well, this is what I did:
git clone GitHub - chukong/programmers-guide-samples: Programmers Guide Samples
cd programmers-guide-samples/
cd cpp/
cocos run -p linux
I don’t understand this part though:
make sure to drop in the pre-built libraries into libs/.
Yup, that is the problem. You need a working cocos2d-x installation. For Linux, we don’t provide pre-built binaries so you would need to use source.
I’ve seen the issue you created on github, thanks.
How could I get the project to work exactly on GNU/Linux based systems, and, built the project for Android from GNU/Linux based systems? I am quite new to C++ also and I’m a bit lost :S .
I would go through this
I’ve already done that, but I cannot discover how to build the project instead of cpp-tests
