This zip supposedly includes what is required for C++, Lua & JS yet when I try to use it in Cocos IDE, Window/Preferences/Cocos/Frameworks/Engine Mode/Javascript setting to the extracted folder I get the following message :
Error
Javascript: This engine was acquired through the git way and cannot find C:\Program Files\cocos2d-x-3.7.1\frameworks\js-bindings\cocos2d-x\external/png. So this engine is not complete. Please run download-deps.py in the root path of the engine.
Note that I have already run download-deps.py and there is no frameworks folder.
The natural question to ask is if Cocos IDE 1.2.0 compatible with 3.7 ?
I have installed Cocos IDE v2 and I am getting the same error when setting the js engine
Javascript: This engine was acquired through the git way and cannot find C:\Program Files\cocos2d-x-3.7.1\frameworks\js-bindings\cocos2d-x\external/png. So this engine is not complete. Please run download-deps.py in the root path of the engine.
If you want to use Cocos Code IDE v1.2, you can only use Cocos2d-JS version until v3.6.1 with engine mode.
If you want to use Cocos Code IDE v2.0, please download Cocos from download page and install it.
Then download Cocos framework in Cocos Store with Cocos.
Lastly, you can use framework mode with Cocos Code IDE v2.0.
