WHere to get started with the UI design tool(s)?

Hi,

I downloaded Cocos2d-x and got a few C++ sample games going on a few OSes and I’m very impressed and eager to get going with my fabulous game idea. I then hit a roadblock when trying to design my new game layout. I believe Cocos Studio is the tool to use but I have no idea how it works. When I tried to create a new project I couldn’t enable the C++ radio button so I left it as Lua (does this really matter?) but then what do I do? One of the example games uses a plist file with a pvr.ccz file for some of the graphics but I don’t know how these are created in in Cocos Studio. I also see some plist files used for what looks like animations. I’d like to lay out the UI of my game in Cocos Studio, and also the animations, and then load this into my game, I’m guessing as a set of plist files, but have no idea how to proceed. When I click “Help” it takes me to a non-existant Web page. A tutorial would help.

I’m using Cocos Studio 2.3.0.1, it keeps asking me to upgrade but when I try to do that it says shut down Cocos Studio first but when I shut it down it also closes the upgrade Window so I’m stuck in an upgrade loop.

I’ve now upgraded to Cocos2d-x 3.7 and Cocos Studio 2.3.1.2 but I still can’t get the Cocos Studio working. My problems are:

  1. when I try to “Run Project” on Windows it complains about not having “Cocos Framework” even though I’ve got it on my machine. I read somewhere that I have to set a path to it but I don’t see anywhere where I can set the path.

  2. The “Help” menu option goes to a non-existant Web page. I have very little idea how to use this program.

Same problem, is there any idea ?
