Which OpenGl version is better to learn?and Any good books?

For the past few months I have tried game development using cocos2dx and would like to develop my knowledge on the same. So, I have planned to learn OpenGl to try 2D and 3D Game Development in cocos2dx.

But I am confused about where to start. I guess I have to learn OpenGl ES for mobile game development.
Which version of OpenGl ES is good to learn? After searching on this topic I found posts saying that OpenGl ES 2.0 is used in most of phones. So, Is it good to start with version 2.0 or 1.x?

I would say learn the latest version.

Definitely start with ES 2.0

Okay

Any good books for beginners?

There are some excellent tutorials online about adding OpenGL ES effects (like shaders) to Cocosd2-x, which is a good place to start if you are already successfully using CC.

I’m thinking of to start with this book. What do you think?

There are a lot of books. The ones I prefer, you might not and vice versa. Choose something that you think you will learn from.

I liked the book I posted in the above comment. Can you tell if that will be useful for coding in cocos2dx later ?

Anything you learn from is useful. I am sorry, I can’t really tell you if a book will be useful to you. For me, I prefer other books to learn from than the one you mentioned. My preference. I learn a bit different. I try, each week, to pick an item and just learn that in my spare time.

I think if you orient to do your own shaders and modify cocos2d yes, but otherwise I will go to learn specifically cocos2d and then grow from there.
