Cocos Studio cannot read .plist files from latest TexturePacker

Using Cocos Studio v2.3.3.0 and TexturePacker 4.0.1, when I drag the .plist and .png generated by TexturePacker into Cocos Studio, I get:

Import Failed

and the error:

Error: Failed to import (PATH). Object reference not set to an instance of an object

There was no problem with TexturePacker v3.x. But I notice that in the TexturePacker v4.0 changelog it says “Cocos2d: export plist format version 3”.

Is Cocos Studio going to be updated to read the latest format? Or do we need to use an older version of TexturePacker?

Thanks

I’ll investigate why this is creating issues.

V3 should be supported in Cocos Studio - the format is quite old. But we’ve recently added optional enhancements to for format to support polygon packed sprite sheets. These might cause trouble in Cocos Studio’s loader code.

Try to deactivate polygon packing & polygon trimming if you’ve enabled that. This might already solve the issues. If not change the “Data Format” in TexturePacker to “cocos2d v2 (old)”.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Yes, selecting “cocos2d v2 (old)” allowed Cocos Studio to import the files again. That allows me to continue working on my project for the time being

(I had not enabled polygon packing & polygon trimming.)

I hope that Cocos Studio is still being actively maintained.

Any news on this issue?

I have the same problem using Cocos Studio 3.10 (Cocos2dX V 3.10 and TexturePacker 4.0.1).

My solution from above works:

Just change the “Data Format” in TexturePacker to “cocos2d v2 (old)”.
