I’m still using cocos2d-x for my projects and I like that framework. I’m admire to the Cocos2d-x structure.
But I am not satisfied about Cocos Studio. I’m writing in here and these are very important problems for me. Developer group is working with 3d scene and solutions. Why? There are too many deficiencies as 2D solution for now. I have no hope anymore because of that.
I want to write some reasons in here.
Why Cocos Studio doesn’t has a hierarchy panel? Animation panel and hierarchy panel are different things. And it’s not useful for simple level design works. Maybe I don’t want to use animation for a scene? Maybe I just need a simple hierarchy panel for the managing sprites and nodes. (Examples; Godot, Unity, Game Editor, Tile Map Editor, UE…etc )
Cocos Studio doesn’t has a physics editor or a collider editor for the sprites or the nodes. Why we need another physics softwares and xml/json export for this?
Cocos Studio doesn’t has camera object and we can’t set the camera position with editor for the complex projects.
Cocos Studio doesn’t has tile editor for the level design proceses.
I want to see more usable editor but I can’t see attempt about these important factors.
We are aware that Cocos Studio is lacking several core features for it to be an editor that competes with Unity. Development is active on this project. I imagine we might see a new offering soon.
Soon, I don’t think so. These features take time. But, let me say, I don’t know the schedule and plans for everything the development teams are working to accomplish.
Well, no problem. I’m developing my simple inhouse editor because of that now. But it take time.(with single person ) Even so, I just wanted to share these problems for the help. Maybe I won’t need inhouse solution for that with this way.
