Hi,
I have a game that is completed for iOS and Android and now I need to port it to Windows. I have Visual Studio 2013 Express setup on a Windows 8.0 PC. I opened the .sln file that is present in proj.win8.1-universal and the sub-projects dont load. I get the following error
Is there any way to fix this? Or is there a particular version of Visual Studio that I should use?
Thanks.
i am running wp8.1 fin using either visual studio 2013 community update 5 or visual studio community 2015 which include the proper sdks to develop for wp8.1.
i encountered an error like that (load failed) when i switched over between versions (i was using visual studio 2013 community and switched to 2015 community).
but any ways you should have a community version(a version from 2012 or above) just to be save and at least windows 8 or above(as far as i know wp8.1 emulator can’t run on win7).
or maybe your missing the Windows Phone SDK that allows you to develop for wp8.1 which are included in the community versions by default and you can try and download them separately and see if its gonna run your projects or not:
https://dev.windows.com/en-us/downloads/windows-8-1-sdk
PS: i advise you to just download a community version and be done with it … no complications!
Thanks. Will download the SDK and then update the status.
So I downloaded and installed the SDK. Also downloaded the latest version of cocos2dx (3.10) and also installed the community edition of Visual Studio.
I opened the file cocos2d-win8.1-universal.sln which is in the build folder and built the solution and got the following errors:

How do I fix this?
I should also mention that I cant see the option to deploy on a windows phone in Visual Studio. The options I get are Win32, ARM and x64. Is that suppose to happen?
no that isn’t supposed to happen and normally you should have a green emulator run button to run the emulator and deploy to it.
and in your case you said it doesn’t show up which probably means that “windows phone 8.1 emulators - ENU” isn’t installed so you should make a quick check to see if it is installed or not (you can just go to the control panel then to remove programs and see if it is installed) if it isn’t installed then just go to control panel then to remove programs then go to “Microsoft visual studio community 2015” and double click it and press the modify button then check “visual c++” and “windows 8.1 and windows phone 8.0/8.1 Tools” to install theme.
and what was the type of installation that you checked when you where installing the community version… did you check minimum or custom installation because when i installed it i chose the custom option and also checked both “visual c++” and “windows 8.1 and windows phone 8.0/8.1 Tools” and that was it!
I already had the Windows Phone SDK’s installed. I ran the installer again and added visual c++ to the install components. Now I can see the correct options and the build ran on the emulator too! Thanks a ton for all the help
PS: Any chance you have integrated In App Purchases for Windows Phone?
no i haven’t done that before but this one looks good:
Thanks. Will have a look at that.
