I have around $300-$400 which I am willing to spend on marketing my cocos2d-x android game.
I’ve heard that if I am able to make more downloads at the launch day or during that week then possibility of ranking of my game goes higher.
Can any one tell me correct way of using this money to publicize my game. I understand that they are very very less money but may be they can work up to something but how is what I need to know.
I am not looking for long term marketing but something like spending this entire amount in 2 to 3 to 4 days of marketing for getting more downloads.
There are few companies which take money for that but I think they charge very high.
(This would my very first game and I can’t put loads of money into it but I wish to see how paid marketing works.)
Short answer: $300-$400 will not gonna work! If you really want do drive downloads, you will have to spend big amounts of cash!
You could use cross-marketing campaigns with companies like Chartboost. Big companies like King or Supercell are offering campaigns, but without a decent install base and money, you don’t have any chance to meat their requirements.
An alternative is something like Adwords, but again. A basic campaign will get you started with at least 1k a month!
Basically you have to pay per view/click. If you offer an eCPM of $0.5, $300 will just pay for 600k views. Video ads are in the range of $5-$12 per eCPM.
Let’s say a user will see 10 views per day, you would reach 60k users.
As an assumption, 0.1% of the users will download your game, you will generate 6k downloads in the end.
Keep in mind, that companies like King or Supercell are spending 25% of their revenue on marketing alone, which is millions of dollars per month.
It would be very naive to think, that a budget of $300-$400 will get you anywhere.
The amount, which will give you cruical amount of data is about $5k-$10k for a soft launch.
