New to Cocos2D-X Compiler Problem

Hi, I am very new to cocos2d and I have a problem regarding the compile time needed for the project to run. I am using the new cocos2D-x version 3.6

Well, I manage to create a project using ‘cocos new’ in the cmd and opened “MyGame>proj.win32>MyGame.sln” using Visual Studio 2012 for Windows Desktop and whenever I try to run/debug the game, it says that the projects are outdated and needed to be rebuilt.

If I click YES, it rebuilds the whole project but it is taking so long! I actually waited an hour and it is still not finished. So I cancelled the build progress and tried to re-run.

This time, I chose not to rebuild it and it gives me an error:
Unable to start program ‘C:\Users\Don\Desktop\Don\Cocos2D\MyGame\proj.win32\Debug.win32\MyGame.exe’.
The system cannot find the file specified.

Am I missing something? Or do I really have to sit through the build process to actually start coding?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) if that will help solving the problem

The first time build will take quite long depending on your PC power. Why don’t you compile it from the cmd line the 1st time and when that finished open the solution.

Thank you for the response! How do I actually do that via the cmd?

cd to your project directory

cocos compile -p win32
