Queries on VR Support in cocos2d-x

Hi,

I’m using VR feature which is included in the cocos2dx3.12. I have run the VR test in the samsung Note4 using cardboard.
I found that, i was not able to select any Buttons.

  • Can any one tell me what and all key features added in the current VR API
  • What new features we can expect in the next release?

So that we can build the VR oriented games.

Thanks

For VR, touch events don’t work and should probably be not used at all. You should implement gamepad support, I’d guess.

We will be releasing support for other SDK’s besides Cardboard and also putting out some working demos’s to learn from.

@ricardo can talk more about the goals.

@slackmoehrle Thanks for the reply:)
Excited to see initial support for VR.We are eagerly waiting for the upcoming updates.

@ricardo It would be great if you can provide the timeline for more VR Support.

Once the package manager is complete, we will add support for the following SDKs:

  • CardboardSDK
  • OcculusSDK
  • GearVR SDK
  • Deepoon SDK

Right now, the only VR “SDK”, is our own built-in implementation.

Yes, when you enable VR you shouldn’t use touches. Although, for testing purposes you can touch the buttons (using touches) if you can imagine the screen without VR, as if it where rendered without stereo… only mono.

@ricardo Thanks for the info:)
