[SOLVED] How to reduce the project size of Cocos2d-x v3.6?

The title says it all. Right now, every time I create a new project, it marks 4.7gb on my hard drive. There must be someway I could make it small. I am having a hard time syncing my work online since I am uploading such a huge file.

Any ideas?

I know that a new project will be around 100-150 MB, but 4.7gb is really unheard of. Have you checked what are the big files in your project??

Hmm, sorry, I really don’t know how to check. But right clicking on the folder give me this absurd size.

Alright upon checking the folder, the cocos2d has 3.33 GB. It is also strange that the cocos2dx that lies on the install directory only cost 1.64GB. It seems every time I made a new project it copies the entire cocos2d folder onto the project folder and doubles the size. Is there a way to link a project to cocos2d-x install directory?

Thanks

New cocos2d-x template contains precomplied lib instead of all source code. Just use “cocos” gui and make a new project (you can copy all the code and assets) or you can try compare old and new project and make changes, which will allow you to use a precompiled lib.
Well you can do it if you don’t want want to develop for windows phone, because for some unknown reason new template does not contain windows phone project.

Do you also count the object files? They take approx. 1.5GB.

Are you also syncing the object files? If so, you don’t need them. What do you want to sync? Source code? generated libs and executables? Object files? PDB files? Everything?

If you compile everything(engine and tests) it takes approx. 4GB.

The extracted cocos2d-x archive takes approx. 1.6GB.
